The Young New Zealanders' Challenge becomes a branch of the Mountain Safety Council
In order to create a smoother pathway into outdoor qualifications for our Coordinators’ and volunteers The Young New Zealanders’ Challenge has been set up as a branch of the NZ Mountain Safety Council.
Current MSC members can either transfer to the YNZC branch or hold dual-membership; new members can sign up straight into our branch (forms are attached).
What are the advantages of joining the YNZC branch??
- It enables us to gauge which training courses are of the most benefit to you, the coordinator or volunteer
- We can guarantee that your voluntary YNZC Adventurous Journey hours will count towards your MSC qualification/revalidation requirements
- We can work with MSC to smooth out any barriers you find regarding accessing outdoor qualifications through the MSC
- You will be better able to access the new YNZC training certificates that are being developed…and the MSC ones!
- MSC will be able to understand how many YNZC leaders are MSC members
- We will be able to lay on courses especially for YNZC leaders and participants
What does it cost?
- MSC membership and transfer of membership is free, there may be a cost for training courses but we will keep this to a minimum

- Fill in the attached membership form or the transfer of membership form and send to us at PO Box 727 Whangaparaoa 0943
- If you are an MSC member but do not wish to join the YNZC branch, but are involved with YNZC activities, could you please let us know you are active with us (along with your MSC member number) so we can update the MSC as they are wanting to know how many of us are out there, regardless of branch
